Trucks tell the story
Drayage is the supply chain’s first inland step. These trucks move containers on short trips from ships to nearby rail yards, warehouses and distribution centers. From raw materials feeding factories to finished products brightening a customer’s doorstep, delivery trucks carry the weight of our economy. We analyzed five different types of commercial vehicle travel that correspond to supply chain movement. Geotab has sensors in over six million commercial vehicles generating 100 billion data points per day and capturing approximately 12% of all commercial vehicle travel in the U.S. “Commercial vehicles” in our study means all Geotab-enabled trucks, vans and cars that are classified into four key vocations: Long-Haul, Regional, Hub-and-Spoke and Door-to-Door.
