Geotab’s indicators illustrate a supply network that moved more volume without requiring more capacity. Over the past three quarters, redistribution is what drove stability while freight activity and capacity diverged at several points. Either capacity held flat or shrank while activity grew, or vehicle utilization rose while actual trip volume didn’t. The Long-Haul backbone held steady, while growth and optimization moved downstream. Some drayage shifted to rail. Regional activity grew, Hub-and-Spoke reached record utilization and Door-to-Door densified by making more, shorter trips. Together, these signals argue for a resilient supply chain responding to growing demand with smarter optimization instead of added capacity. Optimization replaced capacity
