MESSAGE FROM Neil Cawse, Geotab Founder and CEO

Pragmatic sustainability — Evolving our approach in a changing world

When I started Geotab in 2000, the vision was clear: empower businesses with the data they needed to make smarter decisions about fleet management. We started with performance, operations and safety, evolving to meet growing sustainability demands – fuel management, emissions, EV transition and electrification. It is clear that the connected vehicle industry has been fundamentally reshaped by the power of data insights. From cost savings and safety to efficiency and sustainability, data has transformed the management of fleets and connected transportation. Today, Geotab has grown from 2 employees to 2,400, with 4.7 million connected vehicles across 160 countries. We process billions of data points daily, empowering organisations to make informed decisions and drive progress. Geotab has always believed in pragmatic approaches to business challenges. We've learned that progress isn't always linear and a lot depends on organisational goals, availability of solutions and people’s perceptions of real progress. Given the evolving global landscape of increasing costs and new economic realities, it's clear that, collectively, we must shift our approach to sustainability.

Whether it's through efficient route planning, minimising idling and fuel use or strategically replacing a few fleet vehicles with more sustainable options, these actions can translate into reduced operational expenses while supporting environmental goals. This pursuit of cost reduction and efficiency is likely to be the catalyst for change, one that integrates sustainability as a core part of business operations, regardless of external pressures or shifting attitudes. This is a transformative moment. The convergence of AI, deep learning and the availability of massive data sets provides unprecedented opportunities to optimise fleet performance and achieve sustainability goals. Geotab will continue to innovate and empower our customers with the pragmatic solutions they need to achieve both economic and environmental success. Together, we can shape a future where business and the environment truly thrive.

Driving change through data standards Geotab is committed to technically advancing the automotive industry and actively participates in various standards forums such as COVESA in North America and Mobility Data Space (MDS) in Europe. We see improvements, especially for connected vehicle data, as necessary drivers for innovation, improving capabilities to understand fuel efficiency and identify potential improvements. Driving change through common data standards allows for the entire transportation industry to measure and adjust strategies for a sustainable fleet built from the same building blocks for more predictable outcomes. Data standards help identify and align key data points for emissions measurement, this is exemplified by California Air Resources Board (CARB) through their introduction of the continuously connected emissions reporting programme for heavy duty vehicles. The OBD port governed by CARB, over all other vehicle data gateways such as RP1226, has proven to provide the rich data needed across all OEMs for this innovative programme and ultimately for accurate measurement of impacts of emissions regulation. Data standards have an essential role to play in the future of platform agnostic insights of emission data while supporting fleets work to achieve their sustainability objectives.

Greenhouse gas emissions Approach Geotab understands the urgency of climate action and the need to accelerate decarbonisation and the circular economy. We take a data-driven and science-based approach to addressing our carbon footprint, which includes setting greenhouse gas reduction targets that are approved by the Science Based Targets initiative . Geotab actively measures and analyses its carbon footprint across all aspects of operations, from facilities and global supply chain to the use of products, business travel and employee commuting. This approach provides valuable data to drive strategy and enables us to make informed decisions to achieve our carbon reduction goals. Geotab’s strategy includes improving the quality of greenhouse gas (GHG) data to better identify reduction opportunities, improving energy efficiency across operations, promoting responsible energy use and advancing the transition to clean electricity. We actively engage with value chain partners and stakeholders to understand impact and collectively drive emissions reductions. This approach reflects Geotab’s commitment to mitigating climate change and contributing to a more sustainable future.

In 2024, Geotab continued to make progress in decreasing direct operational emissions. Compared to 2023, we achieved a 66% decrease in Scope 2 emissions, demonstrating a commitment to energy efficiency at our facilities. However, we observed a 0.7% increase in Scope 1 emissions. This increase is primarily attributed to a higher natural gas consumption in key operational locations, such as the Geotab headquarters. Despite this challenge, we remain dedicated to our goal of transitioning to clean energy. We are actively exploring opportunities to increase renewable energy procurement and are evaluating the feasibility of on-site renewable energy generation to support our sustainability goals. Additionally, our Scope 3 emissions increased by 39% compared to 2023, primarily due to business expansion and supply chain emissions. We are committed to addressing these indirect emissions through ongoing supplier engagement and product lifecycle management initiatives.

In 2024, Geotab purchased renewable energy certificates (RECs) equivalent to approximately 16.4% of the electricity consumed at the Oakville headquarters.*

Energy Audit ● Understand energy usage ● Identify energy-saving opportunities

* These RECs are not applied to Scope 2 emissions under the location-based methodology we currently use.

Geotab conducted a detailed energy audit at headquarters. We identified critical opportunities for optimisation of energy efficiency through comprehensive data analysis, including insulating domestic hot water pipes to reduce heat loss and a complete transition to LED lighting throughout the office.

Waste recovery To advance the waste diversion programme, Geotab has implemented over 10 waste streams at its headquarters, including compost, container recycling, paper, cardboard, used battery recycling and more. In 2024, Geotab’s average diversion rate reached 86.5%, a decrease in performance compared to 2023 levels (94.1%) highlighting the ongoing challenge of maintaining consistently high diversion rates. In response, we remain dedicated to monitoring our performance and are working on initiatives to promote good waste sorting practices, including education efforts to employees, training for new employees and other engaging activities to further reduce our environmental footprint.

GO Recycle Programme Geotab's GO Recycle programme promotes responsible end-of-life management of our products, minimising their environmental impact. In 2024, we collected and recycled 2,549 kg of accessories through R2/RIOS-certified recycling centres, ensuring secure and sustainable handling. This programme prioritises local recycling to reduce transportation emissions and supports a circular economy by giving materials a second life and diverting waste from landfills.

Sustainable kitchen Geotab provides reusable utensils, plates and cups for every meal at our headquarters, minimising reliance on disposable items.

Packaging innovation Geotab recognises the environmental impact of product packaging and is actively taking steps to minimise our footprint through more sustainable packaging solutions.

'I was considering an EV for the environmental benefits and long-term cost savings, and Geotab's EV Incentive Programme gave me that extra push to make the change. On top of the financial support and convenience of charging at the office, it feels good to play a part in doing better for the planet.

This includes:

• Transitioning to recyclable cardboard for new products.

• Eliminating paper-based instructions and providing digital versions (we are reducing paper consumption and creating lighter, more efficient packaging). • Exploring ways to reduce or eliminate plastic in our packaging, prioritising more sustainable alternatives wherever possible. These initiatives demonstrate our commitment to minimising waste, conserving resources and reducing the environmental impact of our products throughout their lifecycle.

Charging an electric future at the office Geotab’s EV Incentive Programme provides a financial incentive towards the purchase of EV or Hybrid EV vehicles. Since 2019, 364 employees have used the programme. Additionally, Geotab has 37 free EV charging stations at the Oakville and Waterloo offices for employee and public use. In addition to the user-friendly elements, the different types of charging stations support Geotab research and development. The data insights are used for validation purposes, ensuring Geotab’s hardware and software solutions are optimised for various types of EVs.

Priorities

Approach The large majority of our scope 3 emissions come from the supply chain (purchased goods and services). Geotab is engaged with suppliers and partners to take actions that will reduce emissions beyond the company’s own operations. We are also working with suppliers to improve materials and sourcing standards for Geotab products.

2030 GOAL

BY 2023 100% of top 10 suppliers (by spend) have made a public commitment to GHG reduction.

2024 highlights

AT THE END OF 2024 60% of Geotab’s top 10 suppliers (by spend) now report to CDP.

100% of Geotab’s buyers successfully completed sustainable procurement training in 2024 focused on labour and human rights issues in the supply chain.

Supplier engagement Geotab is closely collaborating with our network of suppliers to understand and manage value chain emissions. We are also working with our main contract manufacturer to gather product-specific carbon data across different lifecycle stages, which will help pinpoint areas with the greatest potential for positive impact.

Sustainable procurement Centralised procurement: in 2024 we centralised procurement in one department. This will deliver efficiency gains and enhance supplier relationships. It will also enable greater transparency and control, informed decision-making and increased compliance. Centralised procurement empowers us to prioritise sustainability by strategically sourcing materials, optimising logistics and minimising waste, aligning our operations with our environmental and social responsibility goals. Human rights Geotab Partner Code of Conduct : The Code of Conduct mandates the prohibition of modern slavery, conflict mining and unfair labour practices. It also prioritises local and small business classification, companies offering sustainable products (circular economy parts, increased recycled content and/or recyclability), the presence of business continuity plans and a formal code of conduct, compliance with web content accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1) and active work performed in low-risk geographies. Geotab’s Modern Slavery Statement sets out our global practices, policies and business processes to identify and address risks related to modern slavery in our operations and supply chain. Supplier diversity Partnerships with small and diverse businesses fuel innovation and growth, creating opportunities for a more inclusive economy. Geotab works with small disadvantaged, minority-owned, women-owned and veteran-owned businesses. This includes the HUBZone programme in the US, which promotes small business growth in historically underutilised business zones (HUBzones). At Geotab, we are always seeking new and diverse suppliers to strengthen our business while continuing to deliver the value our customers and partners have come to expect.
