Product carbon footprint: Quantifying emissions for decarbonization Geotab has taken a major step toward understanding our environmental impact through collaboration with our main supplier to track the product carbon footprint of our devices. This calculation mechanism covers a significant portion of the product's life cycle, from raw material extraction to the delivery of the device at the warehouse ("cradle-to-gate"). Quantifying these product-related emissions is a major step to understanding impact and formulating effective carbon reduction strategies. Through this effort, we can enhance the transparency of our environmental performance for our customers and stakeholders and support risk mitigation. Crucially, this data enables us to identify key emissions hotspots within our supply chain and pinpoint opportunities for reduction, such as optimizing material use. The next step is to identify potential replacement materials to further reduce the impact of our products. The broader product lifecycle we are tracking includes Raw Materials, Manufacturing, Transportation, Usage, and Disposal or recycling.
Supplier partnership for environmental integrity At Geotab, we recognize that our environmental impact is defined by our value chain. We are shifting from transactional procurement to strategic partnership, using our Supplier Sustainability Assessment to map our partners' progress. By establishing these baselines, we can provide targeted support and co-create low-carbon innovations that ensure long-term integrity across our shared supply chain.
Supplier diversity At Geotab, certified diverse suppliers are vital catalysts for innovation, providing the specialized technology and services that sharpen our global competitiveness. By integrating diverse vendors across our business units, we ensure our operations are supported by a resilient, high-performance supply chain. We hold our partners to the same standards that we set for ourselves, ensuring that every link in our value chain delivers maximum impact for our customers. Learn how to become a supplier .
