Real-world data challenges the assumption of driver resistance to video telematics
Many fleets stall progress on video telematics adoption because they think their drivers will be opposed to the technology, particularly when it features an in-cab lens. Geotab commissioned research across seven EMEA markets (UK, Germany, France, Netherlands, Ireland, Italy, Spain) to understand driver attitudes toward dashcams, and the results were clear that while drivers may express initial concerns, the overwhelming majority would accept cameras for exoneration purposes.
While more than 9 out of 10 (92%) are concerned about the use of dashcams, an identical 92% would be willing to overlook those concerns if footage could prove they were not at fault after a collision ( Geotab Driver Survey, November 2025 )
Even in France, a privacy-conscious market, 77% of drivers stated that they would accept cameras if the footage could prove they were not at fault.
